Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Mechanical Engineer II, we have an exciting opportunity for you in our Aerospace

  • Actuation Systems Hydraulics Team!

The Mechanical Engineer II on the hydraulics team is responsible for taking a set of inputs, performing analysis, and generating, discussing, and maintaining component designs based on this analysis to release to production. They will balance customer specifications with manufacturing/cost implications and create detail designs using 2D and 3D drafting, including dimensioning and tolerancing. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and basic manufacturing knowledge. They must be able to understand technical influences on the design(s) and know the right questions to ask. The Mechanical Engineer II is technical and develops a deep understanding of how Woodward products work in customer applications. This position has an intermediate level of Customer/Supplier engagement.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Analyzes simple components without supervision. Hydraulic, stress and control theory analysis is typically performed.

  • Create detail designs using 2D and 3D drafting, including dimensioning and tolerancing. Perform linear and radial stack up studies.

  • Performs work which involves the use of conventional engineering practices.

  • Investigates products and documents findings in report format.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience and working knowledge of CAD systems (CREO, NX)

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations (internal only); Basic technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.).

  • Competent skills in problem solving and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to effectively operate in the project team environment and communicate with customers. May direct or lead work of technicians, detailers and designers.

  • Basic ability to understand and interpret industry and Woodward technical standards including quality system standards and PLC process.

  • Basic use and understanding of FEA tools (Ansys), basic use of DFSS tools and methodologies; Basic knowledge of Engineering quality systems (PLC, engineering change, configuration management). Assists with the development of department and organization procedures.

  • Basic understanding of component function and testing. Learning manufacturing processes, drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerances as well as shop standards and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in Engineering required.

  • Greater than 1 year experience in related field or entry level a Master's of Science degree required.
