If so, we are looking for some like you to join APL. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will assist in planning, development and delivery of mechanical systems to meet the design, construction, operations and maintenance requirements of a facility management program on a campus of over 3.5 million GSF.

You will also provide system and component level expertise in Mechanical Engineering to evaluate new and existing systems and recommend enhancements that provide increased reliability, operational efficiency, life cycle cost savings and sustainability benefits. As a Mechanical Engineer in our Design and Construction group, your duties will include... Provide engineering and technical support to the Design and Construction Group, responsible for the system performance and tracking capacity of mechanical systems Generate designs, perform engineering calculations, and create documentation for analysis of new and existing mechanical equipment and utilities, heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and control systems Apply technical expertise in problem solving for mechanical construction and renovation projects Participate in commissioning mechanical equipment and system installations Solve maintenance problems to identify root cause and recommend viable solutions Perform mechanical system audits and inspections, as well as technical reports, cost estimates, and economic analyses to improve operating efficiency Develop and recommend mechanical engineering design guidelines for outsourced mechanical engineering firms Consult with customers, maintenance and operations, and engineering mechanical staff Review mechanical engineering construction drawings and specifications prepared by in-house staff and consultants for sustainability and code compliance Reviews design submittals, and responds to design, construction project and maintenance issues Develop mechanical design construction documentation and probable labor and material cost estimates for resources to accomplish construction and renovation projects Conduct field surveys, gather requirements from customers, and document existing conditions for renovation and construction projects You will use APL vehicles in the course of day to day operations. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Have 10 years as a registered Mechanical Engineer in the state of Maryland (or able to obtain Maryland license through reciprocity) Proficiency in Revit required Solid understanding of design trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness Advanced knowledge of mechanical and plumbing building systems Experience crafting specialty mechanical / plumbing systems, such as cleanroom HVAC, high purity water, and lab gas Detailed understanding of project work plans, schedules, and budgets Knowledge of building SMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Sophisticated knowledge of sustainability and LEED guidelines Ability to work with design teams on multiple small projects of a complex scope simultaneously Possess a valid state-of- residence driver's license.

The selected candidate will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record check. Are able to acquire a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
