This position requires a working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering skills on large construction distribution projects Responsibilities include review of both plans and onsite work. Be able to independently apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the discipline. Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity. Work performed with minimal supervision; has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Reinforces the client-contractor relationship; acts as project manager liaison
Coordinate and monitor on-going field testing of MEP systems
Conduct necessary Field Investigations, provide Field Inspections, prepare concise and distribute timely associated Reports
Understand Contract Documents including Drawings, Specifications and Contracts and provide technical assistance and recommendations for action
Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship
Report field conditions that are non-conforming to original design
Provide Schedule review and monitoring including suggestions for changes
Observe performance of work activities on the project and document activities, work accomplishments and events
Observe safety conditions and maintain a constant vigilance to correct safety infractions
Recommend rejection of defective material and workmanship
Monitor and document compliance with project permit conditions, environmental issues and water discharge requirements
Witness and document the contractor's quality control activities including inspections and testing
BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Registered License Professional Engineer (PE) in California required
8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering working in construction, gas distribution projects.
Experience working directly with the Owner/Client and General Contractor preferred
