Position Description

Performs engineering tasks under moderate guidance that are varied and moderately difficult, which require troubleshooting and interpretation of data, development of new test methods or procedures and are used for a variety of situations. Assists in the development, execution, and organization of detailed design development as part of major projects with a moderate scope.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support new product design teams through test development, data analysis, and competitor benchmarking. Provide feedback to engineering about testing requirements.

  • Use statistical methods to interpret test data and make formal recommendations to product design teams.

  • Develop test requirements and test plan per specifications during design phase of new products. Prepare efficient test procedures from test specifications/DVP&R.

  • Assist in determining project scope and test direction

Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions

  • Act as technical resource to other departments to address and resolve test issues.

  • Drive test planning and adherence to test plans

  • Develop, update and write PES standards

  • Develop new test stands and fixtures

Job Skills Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication a necessity

  • Working knowledge transducers and dynamometers

  • Ability to coach and mentor engineers and technicians

  • Ability to lead change

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Programming knowledge/experience with National Instruments products

  • Some knowledge of B & S products which may include combustion engines, electric circuits, outdoor power equipment, etc.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in product testing and data acquisition

  • Experience with computer based data acquisition (LabView) and analysis systems (DIAdem)

  • Knowledge of dynamometers, transducers such as load, displacement and accelerometers.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

May require travel of a scheduled or urgent nature to review applications, discuss problems, visit suppliers / customers, trade shows, etc.

Evaluates progress and results of projects. Recommends changes in design, procedures or objectives as necessary.
