Mechanical Engineer II

Amentum seeks a motivated engineer to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown, WV.

This position will support the facilities engineering group by performing small-scale design projects, evaluating and optimizing existing systems, troubleshooting systems, and working closely with fellow site operations personnel.

The following are essential responsibilities for this position.

• Perform and develop various design development projects, facility analysis assessments, review tasks, and detailed project cost estimates.

• Develop detailed facility construction statement of work packages for building equipment replacement, site improvements, and infrastructure improvements.

• Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and specifications.

• Conduct site visits, investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

• Develop detailed AutoCAD design drawings using approved CAD standards.

• Use engineering computer scheduling and cost-estimating software to plan projects properly.

• Update project tracking spreadsheets.

• Assist engineering staff in completing facility engineering projects.

• Establish and maintain a filing system or databases to track project status.

• Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels, from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

• Conduct site visits, investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

• Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

• Facilitate on-site access for contractors bidding on projects and communicate project details effectively.

• Conduct engineering project meetings.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a similar degree

3 years experience

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Preferred Qualifications

PE in Pennsylvania and/or West Virginia.
