Mechanical Engineer I:
The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for assisting and supporting the activities associated with the development of building energy conservation projects. Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with an interest in building mechanical or electrical systems. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate success in the following skills and abilities:
Skills and abilities:
Professional designation as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred.
Exposure to mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and institutional facilities is preferred.
Ability to apply innovative approaches to solve problems.
Be fully capable of working in design teams to assist in meeting the project goals in a team-focused environment.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas and concepts in both written and oral form.
Exposure to high-performance buildings and energy conservation is a plus.
Exposure to building automation and HVAC controls systems is a plus.
Participate in performing on-site commercial and industrial facility energy audits.
Assist team in identifying and developing energy and water cost reduction solutions for existing buildings.
Perform energy modeling and building simulations using dedicated energy modeling software packages, i.e., eQUEST.
Calculate projected energy and utility-cost savings.
Perform design of building mechanical, electrical and alternative energy systems upgrades.
Perform project cost estimates.
Prepare energy assessment reports based on analytic findings which include detailed equipment specifications and cost savings analysis.
Develop excel-based software tools to support energy and financial analysis.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with AutoCAD, eQUEST and Microsoft Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) are preferred.
