Wieland is seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to join the GE Hub! The Mechanical Engineer will guide and support an interdisciplinary team in order to identify and prepare machine and plant concepts which promote of manufacturing objectives set by management. Additionally, this role will specify, install, and commission production equipment and supporting systems until SOP and handover to test production by operations. This person will also manage capital and major maintenance projects.
This role is located in Edwardsville, IL - home of Wieland's North American Global Engineering Hub. While this role is local, occasional travel to other locations will be required (15-25% travel).
Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical technical aspects of project including design and development, building and construction, equipment selection, installation and startup
Determine project and equipment specifications and monitor performance to specified standards
Lead internal and external engineering and construction teams to successfully conceptualize, build and startup of the operational equipment, achieving cost and timeline requirements
Coordinate engineering and technical project aspect with other Engineering groups across the globe
Estimate plant and equipment installation costs for preparing requests for capital expenditures
Able to maintain project scope, schedules, budgets, and prevent project creep
Provide technical expertise in mechanical engineering design and specifications of systems which include hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, mechanical fastening, welding, and fabrication
Create machine and component design, equipment layout, and structural fabrication drawings to be used for fabrication and assembly by internal personnel or outside vendors
Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including mechanical requirements, safety standards, and machine reliability metrics
Provide technical support and training to Maintenance and Production as needed
Direct employees, maintenance personnel, and contractors
Analyze various competing equipment suppliers, engineering firms and consultants, selecting the optimum for the intended job
Mechanical Engineer Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
2 - 3 years related job experience, ideally in CAPEX-projects
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid-systems skills are helpful
Expertise in the following: 3D-design (Siemens NX12), 2D-design (ACAD-Mechanical 2019), SAP, Office 365, PM
Familiarity with OSHA & EPA
Strong fundamental knowledge of mechanical systems and machine design and their application in automated industrial equipment and systems
Strong organizational & communicational skills to support and guide interdisciplinary project teams
