The selectee for this position will serve as a Mechanical Engineer in the Public Works Department (PWD) of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.
This is a full-time, temporary assignment Not To Exceed (NTE) 1 year. This assignment may be extended up to 2 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulation. This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Temporary Reassignment.

Review construction project parameters (e.g., integration, scope, time, cost, quality, communication, procurement, risk management) to recommend changes that will improve the overall project results.
Evaluate technical aspects of development and design work accomplished by the design division and provide to contractors.
Negotiate design modifications with representatives to verify agreements satisfy the interests of facilities programs and projects.
Coordinate technical project management efforts (e.g., design, system development, evaluations, certifications) with contractors to make corrective adjustments for program success.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. This position has been identified as a Career Field Engineering at Level III.
Selectee will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (Basic Qualifications): This position requires current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Guam. If you meet this requirement it is highly recommended that you provide a copy of your current registration with your application.
In addition to the Basic Qualifications for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directs the day-to-day development of large projects and managing project schedules; 2) Coordinates the activities of professional architects, engineers, and planners involved with each project; 3) Performs design review of construction drawings and specifications for mechanical systems such as plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, utilities, fuel, controls, and steam distribution.
