Summary

The selectee for this position will serve as a Mechanical Engineer in the Public Works Department (PWD) of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.

Responsibilities

This is a full-time, temporary assignment Not To Exceed (NTE) 1 year. This assignment may be extended up to 2 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulation. This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Temporary Reassignment.

This position is a 100% TDY position at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa

  • Evaluate technical aspects of development and design work accomplished by the design division and provide to contractors.

  • Coordinate technical project management efforts (e.g., design, system development, evaluations, certifications) with contractors to make corrective adjustments for program success.

  • Negotiate design modifications with representatives to verify agreements satisfy the interests of facilities programs and projects.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (Basic Qualifications): This position requires current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Guam. If you meet this requirement it is highly recommended that you provide a copy of your current registration with your application.

In addition to the Basic Qualifications for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directs the day-to-day development of large projects and managing project schedules; 2) Coordinates the activities of professional architects, engineers, and planners involved with each project; 3) Performs design review of construction drawings and specifications for mechanical systems such as plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, utilities, fuel, controls, and steam distribution.
