Mechanical Engineer Job Summary

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer has become available in the greater Detroit, MI area. Our client is a leading manufacturer with locations throughout North America. Our client offers great benefits and is looking for someone that wants to grow within the organization.
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Providing general engineering and design support
Generating drawings and project documentation
Providing project and work order schedules as needed
Evaluating equipment issues and design requirements for manufacturing process problems


Mechanical Engineer Job Qualifications

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Specific requirements for the Mechanical Engineer include:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Proven Project Engineering experience
AutoCAD, Solid Works or CAD software experience is required
Maintenance scheduling software experience a plus
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills

The primary task for this position is to apply chemical engineering principles to improve and lead development of powertrain systems related to aftertreatment and fuel topics such as ash loading, biodiesel, renewables, and ultra low sulfur diesel fuels. Responsibilities * Apply engineering principles to develop Aftertreatment System (ATS) and Fuel Injection System (FIS) related diagnostic strategies, and support field quality topics including diesel fuel quality topics. * Utilize FMEA to generate comprehensive validation plan. * Utilize DVP&Rs to ensure all system tasks are completed and have acceptable performance. * Self-driven - Can identify and connect with other engineers to develop technical competencies and abilities where needed. * Strong communicator. * Ability to receive a problem and break it down using an 8D mentality. * Ability to identify potential system issues and lead development of solutions to those problems. * Proficient in the use of engineering principles and applying them to design of complex systems. * Develop, verify, and validate powertrain components and systems. * Create project plans, timelines, and assist management with defining budget requirements. * Independently schedules time according to project plans or priorities set by management. * Monitors work progress, issues work orders, and resolves problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects. * Regular communication of work status to management. * Conduct and thoroughly document project work, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that are reviewed with management. * Promptly resolve plant build issues or field problems. * Define and release new or improved products. * Ability to communicate and maintain professional and social interaction in a multicultural environment. * Improve knowledge and skills through training.
