ROLE OVERVIEW

To develop, direct and coordinate major projects for Bemis North America that involve both mechanical and electrical engineering components. Projects assigned to this position are of considerable variety and complexity and accomplished with minimal guidance from engineering management.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. This includes ensuring all project work is completed in accordance with safety policies.

  • Determines customer's needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope.

  • Establishes Project Team, facilitates and documents Project team meetings.

  • Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing Department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.

  • Manages project costs, project scheduling and supplying pertinent communication for multiple highly complex and wide-ranging engineering projects, which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.

  • Completes Project Closeout and Post mortem Analysis for appropriate projects.

  • Assists, as necessary, in the interview process of candidates for filling openings within the department.

  • Identifies potential areas of improvement for department and develops proposals for action plans.

  • Provides project management training and support to develop skills of less-experienced members of the Engineering department.

  • As senior member of department, offers experience and expertise to the engineering personnel, acting as consultant to assist in solving problems.

  • Actively participates on WCOM team and leads teams as requested.

  • Leadership: Aligns personal and team goals with the strategic direction of the business and helps communicate this message to others. Is a 'self-starter' who initiates, supports, and implements organizational /department change.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • A bachelor degree in engineering - BSME preferred.

  • 5 - 7+ years of experience with Bemis or similar flexible packaging engineering projects

  • Trade journals, technical and management seminars.

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Consumer Products Professional Business in Neenah, WI. The Mechanical Designer will add value by performing Computer Aided Design work to assist in the development of new or existing device and dispenser products. This position will require the ideal candidate to possess knowledge of mechanical drafting and design principles, practices, and procedures to assist the design and development of new or improved products. Under the direction of Engineers, you will design and commercialize new products using SolidWorks design software and SAP/Engineering Control Center PLM software. This candidate will be required to design and model plastic injection molded parts, along with parts from various other manufacturing practices. A Day in The Life Typically Includes: * Working within a development team, attending project meetings where you will propose new design features or review existing features and functions * Performing drawing checking, tolerance analysis, model analysis, parametric link control and compilation of drawings where parametric link integrity and revision control is maintained * Reviewing drawings for accuracy, material selection and finishes, proper Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly techniques * Taking ownership of other duties in support of Product Development, R&D may be assigned as resource needs require, such as 3D printing and prototype testing * Being self-motivated and maintaining a positive attitude * Possessing effective communication skills & techniques * Possessing an entrepreneurial attitude, the desire to challenge status quo, and possess the initiative to be a self-starter * Offering and receiving constructive feedback and coaching What You Will Need: Basic Qualifications: * Associates or technical degree or higher in Design or Drafting * Five (5) or more years' experience of designing/commercializing products * SolidWorks 3D CAD experience What Will Put You Ahead?
