We are seeking a senior level mechanical engineer to support CSBG's growth at our Fremont CA campus. The primary job function will be CIP and R&D activities in the semiconductor equipment industry designing and analyzing mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, conducting feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to multiple different groups to produce Engineering documentation.
Design and develop hardware
Projects may include one or a combination of multiple disciplines that include identification and evaluation of concepts for fluid flow, heat transfer, mechanics, vacuum systems, RF/plasma, and controls. Includes optimizing designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Rapidly generate design concepts that will develop into detail drawings to manufacture those concepts.
Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
Organize, participate and lead design reviews
Analyze designs developed may need to use structural analysis (FEAs), thermal analysis and fluid flow analysis.
Mentor junior and new engineers
Conduct feasibility studies including generation of well documented test plans
Understand ESC operation and design
Desired character traits:
Organization is very important as many of our business processes create a lot of data that needs to be analyzed and processed. Skills in Excel, SAP, Access, QuickBase, Matlab, or other programming languages is a big plus. You'll be presenting at executive-level meetings, so the successful candidate must be able to succinctly present progress on large cross-functional initiatives.
Strong skills and experiences in problem solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management. Ability to act in their area of expertise and peer to a well-qualified team is highly desired, including actively participating in design reviews, reviewing and providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models, and communicating ideas and results to other engineers and management. Design experiences in ICP/CCP plasma sources is required.
Semiconductor industry experience is not required but a plus. What is required is a strong design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
Mechanical Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8+ years of industry experience; a Mechanical Master's degree with 5 years' experience; a PhD with 3 years experience in the semiconductor capital equipment or related industries.
This is not a job for new graduates. Hands-on experimental experience is required.
Extremely knowledgeable using 3D CAD tools; knowledge of ProE and NX required.
Develop and design critical mechanical systems that will include vacuum process chambers, vacuum exhaust systems, gas and/or liquid chemical delivery, pedestals, showerhead, controls in temperature and pressure.
Demonstrated knowledge and working experiences in plasma and/or thermal deposition reactors to deposit thin films on semiconductor devices.
