Join Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) as a Mechanical Engineer 3 to support the growth of our automotive EV Power & Sensor solutions. You will design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components and sub-systems, product, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • May lead the development and review of product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications

  • May lead activities concerning product development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems

  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products for relevant industry (such as Automotive, Medical Device, Power Distribution, Sensor)

  • Design and implement mechanical products using various CAD and CAE tools

  • Guide less experienced engineers and provide support to more experienced engineers

  • Develop designs and engineering details from general concepts and create BOM

  • Directly work with new suppliers to integrate their technology and see how it best fits with Methode products

  • Design and build Proof of Concepts

  • Conduct technical customer presentations on Methode products

  • Other related duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead core team to develop testing plans for each phase of the program

  • Understand and be able to lead customers through legal and industry requirement for given products

  • Own the integration of other engineering disciplines into the product (electrical, thermal, systems, etc.)

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products for automotive industry, especially in the electrification segment.

  • Support build events at the Methode and customer plant

  • Develop engineering best practice and lessons learned documents

Qualifications:

  • BSME or BS Bio Mechanical engineering degree from a four year college or university

  • 7+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Self learning, task oriented, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

  • Knowledge and proficiency with components in electrical transfer

  • Must be proficient in at least one of the CAD software programs

  • Ability to travel up to 20% both domestic and international

  • Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in GD&T, FEA analysis (thermal, vibration, structural, etc.), and in stamping welding and general assembly
