Join Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) as a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support the growth of our automotive EV Power & Sensor solutions. You will design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components and sub-systems, product, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and analyze product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications

  • May lead activities concerning product development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products for relevant industry (such as Automotive, Medical Device, Power Distribution, Sensor)

  • Design and implement mechanical products using various CAD and CAE tools

  • Evaluate and implement design changes, specifications, and drawing releases

  • Guide less experienced engineers and provide support to more experienced engineers

  • Conduct product testing and create models and prototypes

  • May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products

  • Engage in product team environments related to mechanical & electrical product design

  • Interact with sales personnel and travel to customers and vendors as required

  • Other related duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead core team to develop testing plans for each phase of the program

  • Understand and be able to lead customers through legal and industry requirement for given products

  • Own the integration of other engineering disciplines into the product (electrical, thermal, systems, etc.)

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products for automotive industry, especially in the electrification segment.

  • Support build events at the Methode and customer plant

  • Develop engineering best practice and lessons learned documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomechanical engineering from a four year college or university

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Self learning, task oriented, good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Knowledge and proficiency with components in electrical transfer

  • CAD or equivalent program knowledge, 3D preferred

  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestic and international

  • Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in GD&T, FEA analysis (thermal, vibration, structural, etc.), and in stamping, welding and general assembly
