The Mechanical Drafter will have experience related to operating Computer Aided Design (CAD), creating, updating and modifying complex electro-mechanical devices and systems.

Essential Functions

·         To ensure the quality of the technical product documentation by ensuring that all drawings are produced in accordance with both published national /international standards, and company design standards in a time fashion within program release schedule.

·         Contribute to the identification of any identified shortcoming and recommend /propose solutions.

·         Check and approve engineering drawings from the points of view of; technical completeness, clarity, conformance with standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of material and processes.

·         Check and approve tolerance stack analysis for technical completeness and correctness.

·         Assist departmental manager with promoting and developing a generally higher level of engineering drawing, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis across the team through one-to-one mentoring and group training activities where required.

·         Provide oversight of detailed, accurate, and comprehensive technical drawings using SolidWorks.

·         Collaborate with engineers to translate designs into precise 3D models and 2D drawings.

·         Participate in reviews, identify and correct design and documentation errors, and provide valuable insights for product improvement.

·         Maintain and update product documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

·         Proficiently use PDM systems and ECOs for document management and version control.

·         Assist in the development of bills of materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions.

Requirements

  ·      Proven experience working with SolidWorks, with a strong proficiency in creating complex assemblies and drawings, with minimum 5 years preparing drawings to ASME Y14.100 (or equivalent).

·         Exceptional detail and examination-orientated skills.  Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 

·         Skilled in the application and understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5M-1994), preferably at least GDTP Technologist level or broadly equivalent combination of training and experience.

·         Experience with ‘Worst Case’ stack up tolerance analysis including impact of GD&T.

·         Proficient in using Product Data Management (PDM) systems for document control and standard office productivity tools

·         Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to explain drawing changes, standards requirements and represent documentation requirements at meetings etc.

·         Familiarity with common manufacturing processes preferably with knowledge of DFMA principles.

·         Internal candidates should have a proven track record of complying with relevant company policies and procedures.
