Interventional
Position Summary
The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for maintaining Mechanical Drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for Teleflex products and tooling through Engineering Change Orders/ ECO/CO process. With management review, this role is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing their workload to complete ECO/CO and other assignments within department metrics and due dates.
Principal Responsibilities
Updates mechanical drawings per ECO/CO redline instructions using CAD software.
Ensures new drawings and drawing revisions follow quality system drafting standards and work instructions.
Responsible for CAD file revisions, workflows, and accuracy in Project Data Management (PDM) database/vault.
Manage and prioritize ECO/CO workload, ensuring accuracy and completeness of drafting work following quality systems and department work instructions.
Recommends process improvements to work instructions and ECO/CO process, ensuring compliance with FDA QSR's and ISO requirements.
Coordinates with other departments on ECO/CO processing and system/process improvements
Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for jigs, fixtures, gages and auxiliary equipment leveraging design experience and department design standards and best practices.
Provide design and drafting support across the organization as needed.
Supports building and testing of prototype designs concepts for products and tooling/fixturing using additive and subtractive prototyping technologies.
Education / Experience Requirements
Associates or technical degree in Engineering Drafting and Design CAD/CAM preferred.
1 year of experience in design and development of medical devices preferred.
2 years of experience using Solid Works & PDM
1 year of experience in document control using PLM and ERP software, Oracle Agile/SAP preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Adobe Acrobat
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
Skilled in SolidWorks software, creating and modifying, 2D drawings, 3D parts and assemblies.
General knowledge of manufacturing technologies: milling, drilling, turning, EDM, deburring, welding, broaching, stamping, extrusion, injection molding, etc.
General knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies and materials: FDM, SLS, SLA, Polyjet, etc.
General understanding and application of ASME Y14.5-2018 Dimensioning and Tolerancing for Engineering Drawings standards
General knowledge of technologies related to catheter design and construction, such as extrusion, injection molding, adhesive, thermal bonding, welding, core winding, and reflow processing
Experience working in a regulated industry
Mechacial aptitude and problem solving/decision-making skills. Ability to think criticaly and implement solutions independently.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with communicating effectively across functions to achieve common goals.
Ability to manage dynamic workload and prioritize small and large tasks efficiently.
Attention to detail. Ability to manipulate small pieces of data with accuracy and focus, identifying information that does not fit and implement solutions.
