Description:

Layout and design mechanical parts and systems in 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with an understanding of how designs are applied, how they interact with other assemblies, and how they will be manufactured.

Use engineering calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other software tools to prepare and compile necessary calculations to support product designs.

Generate engineering release documentation and verify its accuracy against the applicable rules and standards.

Determine feasibility of modifying existing, or designing new equipment while considering the cost, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.

Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine possible design improvements.

Will be working with primarily mechanical type assemblies that are on various areas of the rail car, major part assemblies (sensors, motors, boxes), working in close collaboration with mechanical and electrical and fluid power for solid modeling and engineering

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

2 year AAS

Minimum 3 years mechanical design in automotive, powersports, industrial equipment, machine/automated equipment industries

History, education or hobbies, in fluid power, mechanics, industrial equipment, automotive, ag equipment, or similar

Large assemblies, weldment, machine, routing design experience is preferred

Inventor preferred, but willing to look at other CAD packages

CAD principles are important in considering other CAD packages

Willingness to learn, good communication skills, and action oriented are critical soft skills

Application level experience more important than CAD experience
