Seeking Mechanical Designer who has the creativity to solve challenging technical design problems involving piping, valves, tanks and fluid flow products.

Work closely with New Product Development Engineers, Operations and Sales in creating new designs as well as modifying upgraded products using AutoCad 2020

Opportunity to be out on plant floor ensuring designs are manufacturable

  • Strive to ensure that all drawings and bill of materials are completed properly

  • Have the creative ability to solve challenging and technical design problems

  • Be able to work around and adapt to different states of products developed by customers

  • Be able to accommodate for custom, made to order, or not even thought about yet ideas.

  • Be able to continuously evolve around changing orders

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS/ AS or technical education with at least 3 years experience in Piping Design and Applications Engineering

    • Bill of Materials (BOMs)

    • Fabrication Drawings

  • Experience with AutoCAD 2020 with Isometrics required;

  • Experience SolidWorks helpful;

  • Experience with mechanical contractor, HVAC and/or plumbing helpful

VIEW JOBS 12/27/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-03-27T00:00 Ensuring MVE's Success… The successful candidate will join the cross functional engineering team at MVE Biological Solutions Ball Ground, Georgia location. This engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting projects and products that span the full product lifecycle, from new product design and development to product release and related sustaining activities. This position is a hands-on engineering position that will require the candidate to spend time in the office, lab and on the manufacturing floor. The engineering activities associated with this position may include but are not limited to mechanical design, system integration, prototype fabrication and process development related to MVE's Life Sciences product portfolio. What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… * Development of new products following MVE's five phase product development process * Prototype and experiment design and fabrication required for new product development * Develop and perform test protocols to evaluate new product concepts, design changes, product improvements and/or cost reduction opportunities * Generate required project documentation for new products and line extensions * Work with operations to establish production lines for new products * Determine product costing and BOM management through a document management system * Prepare and communicate Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and/or Temporary Design Deviations (TDD) to production * Review and evaluation of product designs through informal and formal design reviews as well as through design verification test plans and reports * Evaluate product non-conformances and implement design improvements * Support manufacturing personnel with product troubleshooting Your Professional Experience Should Be… * Must possess a working knowledge of CAD software. SOLIDWORKS experience is preferred. * Demonstrated ability to do tolerance stack-up calculations and a firm understanding of GD&T * First-hand knowledge and experience of common manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, die casting, sheet metal fabrication, etc. * Experience with electromechanical drive systems, pulse-tube cryocoolers, and/or cryogenics is a plus * Understanding of tribology as it applies to sliding seals and piston design * Good communication skills, both written and oral * Strong organizational skills / demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects concurrently * Ability to work well both independently and as part of an integrated team * Familiarity with the Medical Device Directive/Regulation (MDD/MDR), ISO 13485, FDA design controls or similar medical device regulatory requirements is a plus Your Education Should Be… * Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent disciplines and 5+ years of experience Your Physical Work Environment Will Require… * Ability to work in an office environment * Ability to move around an office, lab and production floor to address production issues relating to products and equipment * Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8 hrs/day * Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting * Occasional pushing, pulling and handling of materials Chart is an equal opportunity employer Chart Industries Canton GA
