Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer will support manufacturing through engineering knowledge of products, plastics, 3D Design, CAD drawings, BOM's, CNC Programming, operating instructions, warranty issues, catalogs, websites etc. This individual should be well rounded in designing and manufacturability. Will be involved in the implementation of new products and development strategies.
In This Role, You'll Have The Opportunity To:
Support manufacturing using Solidworks software, for existing and new product development
Create shop drawings and fixtures
Drive design for manufacturability initiative for new and existing products
Develop and maintain accurate BOM's and routings
Provide cost estimates for new product development, raw materials, labor and overhead
Create production work instructions
Create drawings required for internal use and vendor documentation
Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials, conferring with equipment vendors, soliciting observations from operators
Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods'; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
Help investigate product design/warranty issues
Coordinate the purchase and setup of equipment materials or parts and ensures they meet specifications and quality standards
Help with machine/design improvements
Recommend technology and computer aids, product design changes and workspace layout modifications to existing production standards to achieve optimum quality and efficiency
Requirements
What You Need To Succeed:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with 1-3 years of Project Management experience
Strong problem solving-skills and applied statistics skills are required
Ability to follow direction and work without constant direct supervision while achieving established goals
3D design experience preferred
Demonstrated background in all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical and manufacturing
Demonstrated understanding of product design for manufacturability
Solid background using Solidworks CAD software required
CAD/CAM and CNC router programming experience preferred
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Maintaining network databases and version controls
Ability to handle flexible work environment while meeting deadlines
Ability to read and communicate in English
Ability to use simple math using addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and understanding percentages and fractions
Must be able to read a ruler, tape measure, and calipers
Great attention to detail
Sense of urgency to complete details
Ability to strictly adhere to all safety standards
Ability to work independently as well as with others
