Mechanical Design Engineer II

Job DescriptionBe part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve products, techniques, procedures, and technologies. You will design and develop new ideas and solutions for new product development as well as current products modification and improvements based on in-service issues and market strategy.

You are responsible for design and implementation of mechanical parts, subassemblies and product improvements. Design components that form parts of complex systems. Use mechanical engineering experience for a mix of product development and improvement.

Utilize your engineering capabilities to support projects in a variety of markets. JOB DUTIES: Design and development of thermostat enclosures and home-comfort systems.

Work with other mechanical engineers and manufacturing engineers to ensure components are optimized for manufacturing, including automated assembly, Poka-Yoke design principles, and tolerance stacks. Collaborate with electronics engineers to integrate PCBAs into mechanical enclosures. Collaborate with other technical teams, including Firmware, Simulation, and Quality to optimize product designs Create and maintain technical documentation, including DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis), BOMs (Bill of Materials), and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) Design and prototype enclosures using CAD software, considering factors such as material selection, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

Conduct testing and validation of sensor enclosures and airflow systems, analyzing performance metrics and addressing any issues or deficiencies through iterative refinement and optimization. Drive innovation in comfort-sensing technology through research, experimentation, and evaluation of emerging technologies and industry trends.WE VALUE: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product development Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design.

Proficiency in 2D drawings, critical-to-function dimensions, and tolerance stacks. Experience with enclosure designs and manufacturability techniques for mechanical components in confined spaces. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and optimize performance for efficiency and reliability.
