The Role:
Enphase is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on Advanced Battery Technology within our market-leading Energy Storage Innovation Team.
What you will do:
Rapidly convert concepts to prototypes and characterize prototypes to derisk
Design experiments, make testing setup, and conduct tests to characterize prototypes
Model and simulate to accelerate the testing process (i.e., mechanical fatigue simulation)
Interact with other multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the concept meet requirements
Conduct root cause analysis for troubleshooting
Design experiments for battery design validation and basic battery testing device operation
Solve complex problems with a strong sense of urgency and drive
What you bring:
Hands on, industry experience with mechanical design, targeting battery/module design combined with an understanding of the key steps and parameters for quality battery module design (structure design, assembly process design, DFM, material selection for long duration reliability and battery life, etc.)
Experience in data collection, analysis, and related tools such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, etc.
Mechanical FEM simulation with 3D simulation tools like COMSOL, SOLIDWORKS
Proven ability to independently conceptualize and analyze multiple design options for considering a wholistic Design for Excellence (Scale, Manufacturing, Assembly, Reliability, Serviceability, Environmental Impact, BOM, etc.)
Proven ability to study competitive products and new technologies safely & thoroughly, while documenting the findings and learnings
Proven contributions to Root Cause Analysis, DFMEA and good understanding of multi-domain systems and their inter-workings.
Good communication skills
Good technical paper, patent, and document writing skills
Valuable Expertise:
Familiarity of ESS UL, IEC, IEEE standards and able to interpret the requirements
Battery cell or module mass production experience
Hydrogen fuel cell and storage system development/testing/manufacturing experiences
Proven ability to work in a team under highly dynamic timelines and overcoming challenges
The base pay range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, education or training, work location, and market conditions. This position offers annual bonuse, equity, and benefits.
