US Citizenship RequiredThis opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.Job Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer will lead small teams to design and support fabrication of capital, maintenance, and safety projects to support the mission of AEDC. In addition to supporting AEDC missions, the engineer will review drawings and calculations from designers, drafters, and less experienced engineers. The engineer will provide technical knowledge of process piping and ASME code compliance. Job Duties:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will lead small teams to design and support fabrication of capital, maintenance, and safety projects to support the mission of AEDC. In addition to supporting AEDC missions, the engineer will review drawings and calculations from designers, drafters, and less experienced engineers. The engineer will provide technical knowledge of process piping and ASME code compliance. Job Duties:
- Perform ASME code calculations including B31.3 and BPVC
- Develop P&ID diagrams and process flow diagrams
- Size pump/equipment and write specifications
- Develop design requirements and organize design reviews
- Oversee and check the work of designers and drafters, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers
- Interface with Model Shop personnel in fabrication/assembly of hardware to bring designs to completion
- It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience
- Current United States citizenship is required.
- Experience designing per ASME BPVC, ASME B31.3, and ASME B31.1
- Experience using CAESER II, or similar Pipe Stress Analysis software
- Experience modeling solids in AUTODESK INVENTOR software, or similar package
- Experience creating P&ID Diagrams and process flow diagrams
- Experience performing flow calculation to size piping
- Experience with the specification, designing, operation and procurement of piping components, in line devices, and equipment
