Provide CNS Mission Engineering with full time design engineering support in Y-12 Facility Design for facility and production area activities needed to expedite the closure of Change Requests for Configuration Managed systems that have been returned to service for longer than 90 days. The responsibilities for the design engineer are:

The Engineer must have familiarity with and experience in developing design output in accordance with CNS and consensus national standards (ie. NFPA 70/ National Electrical Code, ASME, etc.);
Experience in a NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable along with an understanding of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Operations for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment;
Have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with various production and support organizations
Review Change Requests(CRs) for systems that have been Returned to Service (RTS) >90days that have not been closed;
Identify the Affected Documents associated with CRs RTS that need to be revised to reflect the work covered by the CR;
Perform walkdowns as needed to verify that the work covered by the CRs has been performed;
Review and compare information shown on Affected Documents to work defined by the CRs;
Prepare redline markups of Affected Documents to reflect the incorporation of the work covered by the CRs,
Provide the redlined copy of the Affected Documents to drafting personnel for incorporation onto the Parent CM document;
Provide check/verification that Affected Documents reflect incorporation of CR information correctly

This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF will be built by 2025 for $6.5 billion and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy's largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration's largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provided enriched uranium capabilities well into the future. The UPF project works on a 9-80 schedule with every other Friday off. Start times are flexible but the standard workweek is: Monday - Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. The schedule on working Fridays is: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; the successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check.
