The engineer in this position will develop the design of and then provide manufacturing support for components of the NuScale Power Module. The near-term design work will finalize the integrated and modular system reactor vessel, reactor internals, core support structures, containment vessel, pipes, valves, supports, and control rod drives that have been carefully designed to support all phases of the NuScale Power Module lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generate technical requirements for the components of the NuScale Power Module with direction provided by senior engineers.
Prepare and review engineering specifications, CAD models, drawings, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the reactor coolant system and nuclear steam supply system with direction provided by senior engineers.
Work on moderately complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas.
Compile functional and design for lifecycle requirements into component and assembly design with consideration for system interfaces, manufacturability, serviceability, and in-service inspection with direction provided by senior engineers.
Develop design parameters associated with the reactor pressure vessel, pressurizer, steam generator, reactor vessel internals, containment pressure vessel, main steam and feedwater piping, component supports, valves, and control rod drive mechanisms with direction provided by senior engineers.
Perform engineering calculations consistent with the requirements defined in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III and the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code with direction provided by senior engineers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Nuclear or Civil Engineering from a four year accredited college or university.
Demonstrated understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theories is required.
Strong technical writing skills. Good communication, computer, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
Organization skills and ability to manage complex tasks are required.
Familiarity with CAD modeling tools and product lifecycle management (PLM) software is desired.
Licensure: An EIT license is desirable.
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 is preferred.
