What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of class 7 and 8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment

  • Repair or rebuild all or parts of various equipment systems

  • Work in accordance with DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and other rules and regulations

  • Conduct safety inspections on equipment and prepare safety documentation as needed

  • Maintain proficiency with equipment and technologies that enhance productivity

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • 2 years of experience in general heavy truck repair for commercial fleet operations

  • Ability to obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)

  • Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC)

  • Your own hand tools for tractor-trailer repairs

  • Basic computer skills

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Previous or current ASE certifications

  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

  • Experience with trailer repair, diesel engine system diagnostics and preventive maintenance for tractor mechanics

  • Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle air conditioning systems

This job requires the ability to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and more than 75 lbs. occasionally

  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery, including working outdoors in inclement weather

  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel

This role is focused on designing and developing electrical products, components, motors and PCBs used in equipment for fish and reptile products and some work with hard goods designed for small animals and birds. You will be involved in projects from concept to launch with responsibility for the details of the design through implementation, testing, and handover to production. Abilities must include technical knowledge, electrical and mechanical background, project management, and multitasking. Please see our corporate web site for additional company information MEASURES OF SUCCESS * Design and development of electrical equipment and hard good products (aquarium, bird, reptile and small animal knowledge a plus). * Manage engineering projects and assist in and follow the new product development process * Daily interaction with engineers, R&D lab, marketing, suppliers, and customer service/warranty to accomplish goals * Specifically shows ability to work with marketing requirements and desires regarding product costs, features, and timing * Ability to create and read design specifications and technical drawings using Pro-E, SolidWorks, or other software * Research suitable solutions and develop those solutions for the application required * Estimate costs and times lines and work with teams to make models and prototypes * Qualify the final product or system through a comprehensive test program and propose modifications and retesting products as applicable * Prepare product documentation, write reports, and give presentations * Monitor a product in use to improve on future design * Along with manufacturing engineering, develop protocols and provide for data acquisition from machines, controllers, and equipment required to manufacture products in house IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES * BA or BS degree with a major in science, engineering or closely related major * 5+ years of experience including exposure to motors and PCB design (concept to production) on small scale consumer products * Experience working with injection molded or other plastics manufacturing processes * Project management and project leadership experience * Knowledge of CAD design * Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes and demonstrated intermediate mathematical aptitude * High level of attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and strong communication skills * A full complement of business computer literacy skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) * Ability to work independently on multiple projects and in a team environment * Must be able to perform risk assessments in a timely manner and act accordingly * Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner WORKING CONDITIONS * Combination of office and plant environment; safety glasses and steel toe shoes are required while working in plant environments. Some travel is required (10-15%).
