QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Opelika City School Board of Education.

• Requires a current Alabama School Bus Driver Examination

• Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to communicate well with others.

• Demonstrates aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "P" and "S" endorsements required and be insurable for vehicle operation. (within 6 months of employment)

• Certification by the State of Alabama Department of Transportation required. (within 6 months of employment)

• Mechanic Certification required by the Alabama State Department of Education. (within 6 months of employment)

• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.

• Tuberculosis clearance as required by Opelika City Schools.

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED (HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature)

REPORTS TO: Bus Shop Supervisor, Transportation Director and the Superintendent.

JOB GOAL: To maintain all district vehicles in a state of operation that prohibits interruptions to the educational program and to serve as substitute for bus drivers when needed.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the maintenance, repair and inspect of all vehicles.

• Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment.

• Keep an accurate log of all inspections/repairs and prepare reports as needed.

• Serve as route driver in emergencies.

• Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.

• Perform any other pertinent assignment assigned by the Bus Shop Supervisor, Transportation Director and/or the Superintendent to assist in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Bus Shop.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Support Personnel.

Salary Range: From/To $32,780.00 - $40,283.00 Salary for the remaining 2023-2024 school year will be prorated
