Mechanic

Must have some experience in the area of heavy equipment repair and with the ability / range of mechanical experience to work on several lines of equipment.

Must read and comprehend all written material (i.e. parts books, service books, blueprints, schematics, etc). Must write in a legible manner to summarize all work performed when maintenance or repairs are made on any specific machine.

Level of education must be high school equivalent or higher. Trade or vocational training preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Reports to the Product Support Mgr (PS Mgr) and/or Service Mgr (Svc Mgr) for all job responsibilities.

  2. Performs service tasks as they may be assigned by the PS Mgr, Svc Mgr or the Foreman.

  3. Notifies PS Mgr/Svc Mgr or Foreman if shop equipment or vehicle is not in serviceable condition of constitutes a safety hazard.

  4. Keeps service bulletins and parts literature current and orderly at all times.

  5. Takes advantage of all opportunities to attend schools and training sessions in order to upgrade technical competence.

  6. Must have the ability to interpret maintenance manuals, parts manuals, campaign letters, and all other service related technical publications from the various manufacturers.

  7. Must be able to perform any mechanical job assignment with very little direct supervision and within the time tables established by the manufacturers or by management.

  8. Must do quality work, in an efficient manner, on each job assignment to prevent warranty follow-up expense.

  9. Keeps abreast of all changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the distributor.

  10. Must plan all jobs for completion within reasonable time allowed for repairs by using your time and/or time of anyone assigned to you to the best advantage, including ordering parts in anticipation of need. Must be willing to work until completion, if needed by either customer or CEC Management. As noted, brings to the attention of the PS Mgr/Svc Mgr or Foreman any additional work required on a unit.

  11. Must be willing to report to work on any shop or field assignment immediately upon instructions from PS Mgr/Svc Mgr or Foreman. Must be willing to work late, weekends, and/or holidays, if need arises. Performs other duties as prescribed by the PS Mgr/Svc Mgr or Foreman from time to time.


Working hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Skills:

3-5 years of experience in a mechanical environment

Must have your own set of tools.

Be able to work with diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.

Use computers for web-based training and work order system.

Must be physically able to lift and work without restrictions.

This is a full-time, working directly for our client company.

Must be able to pass client company pre-employment screenings and have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Position Summary Responsible for the efficient diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of vehicles along with replacement of general automotive parts and accessories. Partner with store management and the desk team to deliver superior service and education to customers on problems and proposed solutions for their vehicles. Duties & Responsibilities * Ensure a thorough safety and mechanical vehicle inspection is completed and documented in the work order system for every car assigned to him/her that comes into the shop. Ability to communicate repairs that are necessary for the safety and operational efficiency of the vehicle to customers and management. Recommends additional repairs and services pertaining to scheduled maintenance, vehicle enhancements, and/or upgrades as appropriate. Adheres to MAP (UICS) standards. * Conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs; including but not limited to brakes, all tire related services, including mounting, balancing, and flat repairs, state safety and emissions testing (where required), fluid changes, steering and suspension, maintenance services, starting and charging. Responsible for securing vehicle during repairs and after repairs are completed. * Maintain technical capabilities to ensure proficient, safe use of service equipment. Interprets and applies technical instructions in diagram and text form. * Maintain company directed productivity, training development plan, and comeback performance levels. * Approachable and knowledgeable resource regarding technical matters related to installation and proper application of parts and accessories, while also providing accurate and effective direction, advice and assistance to service advisors, other technicians, commercial, retail and parts associates, management, and customers. * Partner with Management to produce a safe and healthy work environment that complies with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as with company policies and procedures. Expected to comply with loss prevention, safety, and environmental codes and ordinances. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Valid Driver's License. * Successful completion of Background and Drug tests. * Minimum six months of related experience in the automotive service environment. * Must have basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions. Ability to apply mathematical formulas to calculate commissions and discounts. * ASEs preferred; ASE G1-Auto Maintenance and Light Repair strongly preferred; state certifications/licenses where required. * Strong customer service skills. * Strong verbal communication skills. * Ability to work Days, Nights, Holidays and Weekends.
