Mechanic - Non PHE
Alfa Laval is a leading global supplier of products and solutions for heat transfer, separation and fluid handling through our key products heat exchangers, separators, pumps and valves. Alfa Laval's products are used in the manufacturing of food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, starch, sugar and ethanol. We are also used in nuclear power, onboard vessels; and in the engineering sector, mining industry and refinery sector as well as treating wastewater and creating a comfortable indoor climate.
You will performs a variety of duties to disassemble, inspect, measure and assemble products and subassemblies to bring them up to specification standards. Products supported include high speed separator, decanter, pump, and valve for our internal and external customers.
You can expect to perform the following:
Perform equipment receipt, uncrate, clean, strip and tear down units
Inspect, repair, test and package following the companies policies, procedures, quality standards and Safety guidelines.
Work from drawings, parts lists, blueprints, charts, tables and graphs to evaluate and assist in estimating repair costs, time and materials or parts needed to repair assemblies and subassemblies
Follow the quality plan per job to repair product
Diagnoses, checks and corrects mechanical functions through adjustments, using various tools (for example - hand tools, vibration and balancing equipment, frequency analyzers) and approved repair methods.
Sets up and balances rotating equipment using approved balancing methods as required.
Sets up and operates test stands and related equipment as required.
Record written test results on appropriate test documents
Paints, packs, crates and documents shipments of units, parts and materials.
Moves material inside shop or other duties as needed
Fills in for and performs Mechanic PHE responsibilities, as needed. (Greenwood, Houston only)
Recognizes and communicates the need for replenishment of supplies, tools, need repair parts and other facility needs to supervision in a timely manner.
Keeps work area and surrounding equipment clean and organized. Performs housekeeping as required at the facility to maintain a professional presentation
May be asked to perform some field service work from time to time (not frequent or required)
You will have:
High School degree or Equivalent
Experience operating fork lift trucks, hand pallet jacks and overhead cranes, preferred
Experience with heavy equipment repair or manufacturing, a plus (Engines, compressors etc.)
2 years in a light manufacturing manual repair environment, preferred
Able to use micrometers and gauges in both English and Metric measures
Good mechanical aptitude
Basic computer knowledge (clocking in and out, scanning bar codes)
Read, write and effectively communicate in the English language.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems
Skill in working with hand and pneumatic tools (impact wrenches, torque wrenches for example)
Ability to read and understand complicated blue prints, drawings, sketches and work instructions
Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. as required
