Hourly Wage:

New Hire: $27.80  ·  90 days: $28.77  ·  1 year: $29.78  ·  2 years: $30.78  ·  3 years: $32.33

About Mechanic: 

Primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Conservation Operations Manager. 

  • Removes major parts of gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions and rebuilds or makes repairs subject to guidance and inspection.
  • Traces electrical failures and makes necessary repairs.
  • Repairs and replaces air and hydraulic brakes; removes, cleans, and repairs radiators; replaces springs, shocks and idle arms.
  • Cleans and overhauls carburetors and replaces fuel pumps.
  • Welds and installs new equipment on vehicles.
  • Performs major overhauls on gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Performs various minor maintenance and service on vehicles such as oil changes, lubricating, adjusting head lights.
  • Performs body, fender, and paint work on vehicles as necessary.
  • Regularly cleans and organizes tools, equipment, and workspace to maintain a safe and efficient working environment, adhering to safety protocols and best practices. 
  • Maintains service records, tracks repairs, and ensures accurate vehicle and equipment history logs through use of computer software and digital tools. 
  • Communicates with vendors and suppliers to procure parts and troubleshoot mechanical issues. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in servicing and repairing equipment in a general garage or service station.
  • Valid State of Iowa Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements required.

 7 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
