The West Central Research, Extension and Education Center in North Platte, NE serves as the site for field-based research and extension activities that deliver research-based education and information to citizens throughout the state. We consider ourselves the front door to the University for those we serve in west central Nebraska.
As a Mechanic III, you will:
Perform maintenance, diagnose equipment malfunctions, and repair automobiles, trucks, tractors, UTVs and other agricultural and construction equipment.
Maintain parts and supply inventory and manage the acquisition of necessary parts and equipment.
Purchase, new/used equipment and vehicles. Conduct and record vehicle safety inspections at scheduled intervals and ensure equipment/vehicles are properly insured.
Maintain all U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) inventory and equipment.
Manage on-site fueling stations, order supply, maintain inventory tracking logs, and responsible for compliance requirements.
Occasional fabrication or modification of equipment mechanical systems.
Aid center operations including farming, hauling grain, snow removal and facility projects when needed.
Position occasionally requires irregular hours, work in adverse weather conditions, and travel to other research sites in Nebraska. Requires Class A & B Underground Storage Tank Certification and Class A Commercial Driver's License to be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
