Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, the Mechanic III performs basic safety and repair procedures on company equipment, using basic hand tools and provides on the job training and guidance to entry and lower level maintenance personnel. The individual in this job role performs operations to include but not limited to: performing and overseeing pre and post job equipment inspections, completing and overseeing preventive maintenance and repairs.

Key Accountabilities
Must be able to perform, without fault, all Essential Functions required of entry and second level mechanics.
Assist with equipment function checks at the facility.
Possess skills to operate various company specific equipment.
Performs and oversees maintenance on all equipment as needed.
Familiar with company purchasing process and policies.
Takes an active and lead role in mentoring entry and lower level mechanics during repairs.
Works under minimal supervision with knowledge to act in regards to work schedule.
Develops an understanding of departmental paperwork and computer processes.
Develops skills to identify, maintain and troubleshoot company equipment including sensors and final controls, injector and BOP inspections and repairs and complete cargo inspections; through company and OEM training.
Possesses an advanced understanding of Product Line Specific equipment, and equipment specific computer and diagnostic skills.
Continually emphasize safety. Participate or lead safety meetings, hazard hunts and ensures JSAs are followed.
Know, follow and periodically review the requirements established by job policy and procedure. Follow established procedures and guidelines.
Report unsafe acts, conditions or hazards immediately.
Follow instructions given by supervisory personnel.
Requires maintained eligibility to drive company vehicles.
Develops an understanding of district goals and works towards meeting those objectives.
Performs work on his/her own as well as provides assistance to other employees as directed.
Must participate in all company provided training.
Maintains compliance with public laws and company policies.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Pass the companys drug screen.
Pass the companys Physical Functions Assessment. (if applicable)
Motor vehicle record qualifies individual to be an approved company driver.
Acceptable criminal history.
Ability to read, write and speak English to the extent that they are able to understand verbal and written instructions as well as give verbal and written instructions in English; and the ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) to make job related calculations.
Must meet the Competency Task List and Equipment Maintenance Task List requirements demonstrating skill/knowledge in the following areas (in addition to those competencies required for an entry or second level mechanic):

Gear boxes
Clutch drive lines
Centrifugal pumps
Steering and alignment
Basic Electrical
Practical Hydraulics (basic)

Must possess skills to identify, maintain and troubleshoot equipment heating and a/c, transmission (HD750 and 9,000) engine and power ends.

Required Experience and Education
Must have attained 3 to 5 years on the job mechanical experience and/or completion of technical school in related field.
Must possess basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment.
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Licensure to drive commercial vehicles is preferred but not required.

C&J works on custom designed pumping equipment so it is necessary to train everyone on our equipment and teach them skills they will need in the field. The equipment used in the field is typically diesel powered and either truck or trailer mounted. The hours are long and irregular as the oil field service industry operates 24/7. You must also have successfully passed company tests and met competency task list requirements for this job, and have 2+ years of experience in the oilfield. Key Accountabilities Promote excellent customer relations at the work site as you perform equipment rig up and rig down, and prepare equipment for the job. Mentor Operator Assistants Safe operation of high-pressure pumps, iron trucks and cranes, and the collection and distribution of data on the job. Expect to assemble and prepare equipment for installation and service, and make preparation for the next job. Independently operate and perform basic troubleshooting and minor repair of equipment. Verify all necessary equipment and supplies are on location and in proper working condition. Available on a 24 hour basis to respond to customer needs. Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job. Perform above tasks in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment Familiar with necessary equipment Good communication skills Mechanical aptitude Motivated; a “self-starter”; but able to work under supervision.
