DEFINITION Under the direction of the Maintenance and Operations Director or the Transportation Manager, to perform a variety of skilled level repair, overhauls and maintenance of a variety of small engine and other gasoline and diesel powered motorized and electrically powered equipment; to perform semi-skilled and skilled service in assisting other mechanical service and operational personnel; and to performs other related work as assigned and/or required.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience, within the last ten years, as a journey level gasoline powered small engine, electric motor and automotive mechanic.

EDUCATION: Verification of a High School diploma, a GED certificate, or a higher degree will be required at the time of hire; supplemented by required training or course work in gasoline, electric motor, diesel powered motorized equipment repair, overhaul and maintenance.

Knowledge of: Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of a variety of electrically, gasoline and diesel powered motorized equipment; principles and theories of the internal combustion engine; legal mandates, policies, regulations and guidelines pertaining to the repair, overhaul and maintenance motorized equipment; and safe working methods and procedures. Ability to: Diagnose and locate mechanical and electrical malfunctions and defects; perform skilled small engine gasoline, diesel, and electrically powered equipment repair, overhaul and maintenance functions; operate a variety of equipment utilized in the repair and maintenance of gasoline, electrically and diesel powered motorized vehicles and equipment; interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and diagrams; maintain simple records and prepare complete and concise reports; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

FOREIGN TRANSCRIPT EVALUATION Individuals who have completed course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts/degrees, prior to applying for a position, and attach a copy to the application electronically. The foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the approved organizations, listed on the Rialto Unified School District website, in order to be accepted.

These organizations are private enterprises who charge a fee for their services. Individuals pursuing a foreign transcript evaluation must follow the procedures outlined by the organization providing the evaluation. In all instances, original, official documentation will be required when requesting the evaluation.

Note: To obtain examination credits, veterans must electronically attach a copy of a DD214 (proof of service and/or disability) verification to the application.
