Our Public Works Department, Fleet division is currently seeking a Mechanic I, II or III depending on level of experience. Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled work involving the maintenance and repair of gasoline or diesel driven motors and related auto equipment, landscaping equipment, machinery, and tools.
Requires the ability to perform light maintenance and repairs which include, lube, oil, and filter changes, balancing and rotation of tires. Employee performs complex work with independence, and more difficult work under guidance and supervision of the Mechanic Lead.
All positions require experience in automotive and heavy equipment/machinery maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience monitoring, updating, and maintaining inventories for parts and supplies is preferred. Must possess a HS Diploma or GED.
Mechanic I
Must possess and maintain at least two (2) certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium and heavy truck certification test series from the following categories: Brakes, Suspension, Electronics, Air Conditioning-Heat & Ventilation, and Preventive Maintenance.
Mechanic II
Must possess and maintain a Class "A" Florida Commercial Driver's License. Must poses and maintain at least four (4) certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) medium and heavy truck certification test series which includes the following categories: Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electronics, Air Conditioning-Heat & Ventilation, Preventive maintenance, Drive train, Diesel Engines and Gasoline engines as well as administratively approved Emergency Vehicle Technician certification(s).
Mechanic III
Must possess and maintain a Class "A" Florida Commercial Driver's License.
