Job Purpose
This is a 3rd shift position, 4,10-hour work schedule. Base hourly rate is $20 - $30 depending on skill and job knowledge.
This position will work on the engine line in one of the following areas: teardown, components, wash, mag / dimension, cam/crank, hole repair, initial or final assembly.

Education / Training
Key Job Elements
Follow written/scope of work instructions and or QWI's consistently, accurately, and safely;
Use electric and air operated hand tools accurately and safely;
Operate overhead cranes and rolling equipment (i.e tugger and fork truck) accurately and safely;
Complete and document jobs in a timely manner per traveler requirements/QWI's/work instructions;
Work with little or no supervision consistently, accurately, and safely;
Identify different engine models consistently and accurately;
Troubleshoot and recognize problems accurately and safely;
Read precision instruments and gauges accurately and safely;
Keep work area clean and organized consistently and safely;
Work as a team and assist other team members as needed consistently and safely.
Teardown:
Teardown all models of engines into its basic components;
Identify engine components and models of engines;
Tag items properly as removed consistently and accurately.
Wash:
Wash and inspect engine components to standard;
Must be QA qualified to operate engine block/pan washers.
Components:
Accessory end;
Turbo end of engine;
Middle part of engine to include crab kits, flywheel and gears;
Headframes;
Handhold covers, and components;
Top Deck covers;
Exhaust stacks and after cooler housing;
Cam/Lay Shaft;
Gear damper, turbo drives and misc. parts.
Magnaflux/Dimension:
Certified in Level I & II Mag / Dimension to facility requirements;
Conduct basic mechanical requirements of a Machinist;
Grade weld and machined surfaces to meet quality standards.
Hole Repair:
Conducts basic mechanical requirements of Hole Repair Mechanic III;
Must be qualified in Hole Repair Welding / Machining Procedures;
Certified in GMAW(Mig) in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G to facility requirements;
Operate plasma cutter and acc. torch consistently, accurately, and safely;
Conducts basic fabrication processes.
Initial Assembly:
Build up and install crank;
Apply power assemblies to engine;
Perform water hydro and lead test;
Install camshafts and check thrust.
Final Assembly:
Install headframes;
Assemble and install stacks;
Set up front and rear gear train;
Install turbo.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Mechanic, preferably diesel mechanic;
Must have basic computer skills;
Must have strong Mechanical aptitude;
Must have ability to read precision instruments, micrometers, and gauges accurately and safely.
