This position assists in the repair and maintenance of department vehicles and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Repairs and overhauls truck brakes and clutches.

  • Repairs hydraulic and electrical systems on heavy road equipment and diesel vehicles.

  • Performs transmission and engine repairs.

  • Operates testing equipment, troubleshoots, and makes repairs.

  • Replaces water and fuel pumps.

  • Performs on-the-road repairs of disabled road equipment and vehicles.

  • Operates road equipment and vehicles for testing purposes.

  • Maintains records of repair work done.

  • Repairs gas-operated weed eaters and chainsaws.

  • Repairs all vehicles and equipment.

  • Able to report regularly for work and be on time.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 2+ years of experience using hand and power tools

  • 2+ years of experience in the maintenance of tools and equipment

  • 2+ years of experience in general fleet maintenance jobs

  • Customer Service Oriented

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Must pass a Criminal Background check.

  • Must pass a driver's license background check.

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.

  • Must be able to pass alcohol and drug testing.

  • Must possess a Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

  • The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

  • The work is typically performed in a service center occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

  • Emergency Preparedness Tier Level: 3
