Ahern Rentals is looking for a Field Service Mechanic in Waco, Texas to respond to the service calls at our customers job sites. Upon arrival, the field service mechanic diagnoses & repairs our rental equipment in the quickest and safest manner possible to allow our customers to return to work. This position works alone and away from the shop most of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Travel to customer work sites to complete repairs on various types of rental equipment

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain heavy duty and other construction machinery including electric and fuel system engines

Respond to the service calls at customers worksites

Provide customers basic training, as needed

Other duties, as assigned by Management

Previous equipment repair experience required

Must possess own tools

Must be able to work on several types and brands of equipment

Must be able to read and understand electrical & hydraulic schematics

Truck and diesel engine experience is a plus

Must have current medical card

Basic computer skills preferred

Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Must be able to pass drug test and background check

Must be able to provide Motor Vehicle Record at time of job offer (current within 15 days)

Competencies The required competencies for this job include: * Basic vehicle mechanics, maintenance and repair procedures * HVAC equipment specification and control systems * Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines and specification codes * Troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating electronic and mechanical components and subsystems * The use of applicable hand and power tools, equipment and mechanical devices of the trade * Mechanical repair procedures for diesel, gasoline, CNG and LPG engines * Brake repairs to include anti-locking systems, mechanical brakes, air brakes and hydraulic brake systems * The use of applicable electronic test equipment * Diagnosing problems and repairing equipment to include electronic and mechanical components and subsystems according to defined codes and specifications * Maintaining a safe working environment Education This job requires the following: * High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies Work Experience This job requires the following: * 5 years in automotive, mechanical, or equipment repair * (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part time equivalent) * No supervisory experience required. * Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on year per year basis. Licenses and Certifications The following Licenses and/or Certifications are required for this job: * Safety Impact Certificate * Commercial Driver Certificate * Valid Class C Driver License at time of application * Commercial Driver License Class A within 120 days of employment Other Conditions: * This is a Safety Impact and Commercial Driver position and will be subject to random drug testing. Conditions of Employment Conditions for this Position: Standards of Employment Additional conditions for this position: Safety Impact certifications are not required at the time of application.
