Position requirements:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent. Minimum (2) years experience in the field of automotive / truck or bus repair

  • Reliable / Motivated / Strong work ethic

  • Skills to sufficiently diagnose and repair heavy-duty vehicles

  • Flexible shifts / overtime

Primary responsibilities:

  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on a variety of vehicles

  • Performs diagnostic and repair work on all types of vehicles

  • Completes required paperwork with regard to repair orders and parts usage

  • Make road calls

  • Owns and maintains the proper hand tools to perform job functions

  • Follow orders of the shop foreman or other supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must hold a CT drivers license

  • Must hold or be eligible to possess a CDL license

  • Must hold or be willing to work toward ASE certifications

  • Must possess adequate verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Must possess the physical strength and conditioning to safely perform all required tasks

Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area

  • Understands and complies with all OHSA safety regulations and DATTCO policies and procedures

  • Promotes safety and a level of professionalism within the work environment

Mobile Equipment Mechanic (New Britain, CT) Position Overview Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for a Mobile Equipment Mechanic. As a Mobile Equipment Mechanic, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. The Mobile Equipment Mechanic will report directly to the Equipment superintendent and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the quarry team. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) * Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains construction equipment such as trucks, trailers, cranes, paving machines, motor graders, trench digging machines, bulldozers, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. * Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects. * Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools. * Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. * Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions. * Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency. * Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience * Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. * Mechanical background with 3 years of Class 8 truck repair experience required. * 2 years of Automotive/Truck Tech School Training preferred. * Moderate IT/computer skills in diagnostics and repair of engine, transmission, and powertrain components.
