For the following heavy-duty equipment: Bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, roller, off-road dump truck, on-road dump trucks, skid steer, grader, and pick-up trucks.

Job Duties and Tasks:

  • The work week is 5-10-hour days with an occasional Saturday, and ability to work after-hours if required.

  • Repair and maintain the equipment, following manuals, and using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of electrical, power transmissions brakes, oil changes, other automotive systems.

  • Operates any equipment unit on a temporary basis for operating adjustments.

  • Be able to trouble shoot equipment issues at the job sites.

  • Inspect heavy equipment for proper performance and use diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.

  • Install new ignition systems, change, or recharge batteries, and other parts using hand tools.

  • Service equipment at job sites providing fuel, greasing, and scheduled maintenance.

  • May fabricate special lifting or towing attachments.

  • Always conform to EPA and ADEM regulations for disposal of oil, solvents, and parts.

Job Activities:

  • Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell.

Job Skills Required:

  • Have a valid Driver's license.

  • Sound understanding of the operational guidelines for maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and follow manufacture owner's manual recommendation.

  • 1,000 hours of hands-on experience as a mechanic with extensive knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment.

  • Ability to work as part of a Team.

Knowledge, Experience, and Education Required:

  • Knowledge of the operational and maintenance workings and repair of heavy equipment.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience of means and methods and tools involved in the mechanical maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • A minimum education of a high school diploma or GED.
