Job Summary:

Under general supervision maintains, repairs and overhauls plant equipment as directed. Uses tools such as MIG, TIG and Stick welders to fabricate sheet metal projects from drawings. Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and safety procedures while performing job duties.

Job Description:


Performs a wide variety of mechanical maintenance and repair of production equipment and machinery using a variety of hand, gas and electrical powered tools. Engages in the welding and fabrication of parts as required. Responds to emergency calls and makes immediate repairs to prevent production down time. Participates in machinery trouble-shooting. Assembles and reassembles equipment; examines and tests mechanisms. Inspects and calibrates instrumentation. Tests equipment and adjusts calibration to ensure equipment is functioning is within specified standards. Interprets technical documents (prints, manuals) as required. Promotes occupational safety standards; gives others feedback on their safety performance. Performs electrical installations; installs wiring and conduit safely in compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience

  • 5 years

Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.)

  • Skilled in fabricating items using a welder and sheet metal

  • Experience interpreting and acting on written and verbal job instructions and reports, technical manuals and data.

  • Knowledge of general maintenance activities and procedures

  • Experience operating company vehicles and equipment such as (e.g. forklift, man-lift, crane, etc.)

  • Must demonstrate the mechanical and relationship skills necessary to work on sophisticated production equipment. Requires knowledge of company specific machinery and equipment, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.

  • Current welding certificate required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.

  • Must have own tools to efficiently perform job.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with automation equipment

  • Experience determining causes of machine downtime, poor quality or performance

  • Experience installing support equipment, machines, hoses, basic wiring, and lubrication

Educational Requirements:

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

This position will primarily focus on the utilities side of maintenance. Shift and Schedule The Maintenance Mechanic operates in our Sacramento, CA facility on the 3rd shift, typically Sunday-Thursday. Flexibility to work off-shifts, holidays and overtime as scheduled is required. Position Responsibilities * Analyze mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or electrical problems and make repairs through adjustments, defective parts replacement, or fabrication * Auditing of equipment for preventative maintenance. * Weld various types of metals and gas cutting. * Construction of new installations * Complete size changeovers, make adjustments, and trouble shoot liquid fillers and packaging equipment. * Fabricate or replicate minor pieces for the repair or replacement of parts on equipment. * Piping / plumbing repair and installation of new piping and valves to code. * Repairing and maintaining safety equipment (guards, barriers, covers and etc.) * Completing requisition forms for ordering parts * Operating boom lifts.
