Mechanical Engineering/EMET Intern

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Under direct supervision, and as part of a multi-discipline Engineering team, intern will support various project initiatives as follows:

  • Drafting and design support, including development of new 2D drawings, update of existing drawings, and Solidworks 3D modeling.

  • Perform field measurements and data collection, order parts and components, and interface with equipment fabricators.

  • Participate in all aspects of project life cycle including participation in team planning meetings as well as interface with internal departments including Purchasing, Safety, and Maintenance in support of Carpenter's project management methodology.

  • EMET majors will additionally support electrical project tasks including PLCs, HMIs, operator interfaces, and power distribution.

  • Flexible work hours - part-time during Spring and Fall semester (3 days/week min) and full-time in Summer.

  • Carpenter Technology is located 15 min from Berks Campus.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified students must be currently enrolled in a college degree program.

  • Majors in BS - Mechanical Engineering or BS Electro Mechanical Engineering Technology and has completed at least one full year of academic study in the field.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong inter-personal skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Self-driven to achieve results.

  • Offers are contingent upon the successful completion of Carpenter's pre-employment selection process, which includes a drug and alcohol screen.
