Job Summary

Performs advanced level of activities related to measurement functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Install, test, calibrate, repair, and maintain orifice, positive, Coriolis, Ultrasonic, mass flow, and dry flow meters, regulator settings, telemetering systems, electronic flow computers, odorant systems, and relief valves (as specified by position).

  • Perform measurement, sampling, compliance, and regulation operations and maintenance at facilities.

  • Calibrate and maintain test instrumentation and auxiliary equipment.

  • Drive and ensure maintenance of company vehicle.

  • Effective interaction with corporate measurement personnel and adherence to corporate measurement procedures

  • Prepare reports including but not limited to (as specified by position):

  • Job orders and completion reports

  • Meter and regulator installation and/or removal (Test-It)

  • Equipment and operational tests, repairs, and maintenance

  • DOT compliance reports

  • Sample reports

  • Generate batch tickets

  • Witness meter calibrations per contractual obligations.

  • Provide advanced trouble shooting skills and root cause evaluation in dealing with measurement systems.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Experience installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining measurement and regulation equipment.

  • Training and/or experience relative to:

  • Contract Negotiation

  • Meter testing and installation

  • Regulating flow and pressure

  • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

  • Servicing/repairing measuring station equipment

  • Interpretation of measurement data

  • Characteristics of product handled

  • Experience using, maintaining, and repairing tools and equipment used to regulate flow of gas.

  • Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of formulas to validate volume calculations/corrections.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting maps, plats, atlas pages, dials, gauges, sample reports, drawings, procedures, correction tables, and applicable operation and safety manuals.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

  • Communicate and/or exchange information or instruction.

Certification and Licensing

  • Applicable driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 5-10 times a day; up to 30 pounds 5-10 times a day; over 50 pounds 3-5 times a day.

  • Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:

  • Mud

  • Gravel

  • Sand

  • Rocks

  • Ice

  • Snow

  • Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.

  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders. Able to operate on elevated work surfaces.

  • Ability to work in confined areas.

  • React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment as required.

VIEW JOBS 11/1/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-30T00:00 POSITION OVERVIEW: The Measurement Technician Provides gas testing, gas analyses, and metering station audit services in order to satisfy settlement testing and measurement provisions of gas contracts in addition to assisting in project development and economic new connects by performing the following duties. KNOWLEDGE: The Measurement Technician must have a mechanical aptitude and will gain a solid knowledge of the following: Conduct Chromatographic Gas Analyses, Metering Station Recording Equipment, Gas Testing, among others. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Assists with repairing and/or replacing faulty instruments, safety equipment and controls, and maintains instruments and control equipment in a clean and workable condition Audits meter stations for installation errors and primary element integrity to ensure contract compliance and consistency with industry and company standards Fill out applicable work/hot work permits, lockout/tagout documentation, attend and participate in tailgate sessions with others involved in work site activities Initiates and maintains potential new connect project files Maintains instrument and control equipment data log sheets and computer based database and preventative maintenance system Maintains integrity of test results through systematic validation, periodic provings, maintenance and certification of test equipment Makes routine and emergency calibrations and adjustments to correct abnormal operation of instruments and controllers and reports such conditions and corrective action to operators Monitor and recognize dangerous and/or emergency conditions within the process and perform procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process/facility in order to protect personnel, community, environment and equipment Performs new well deliverability and quality tests Performs various gas quality tests. Provides chromatographic gas analyses for contract settlement by use of portable gas chromatograph Prepares audit quality documentation of provings, analyses and measurement discrepancies Proves and/or calibrates metering station recording equipment to within limits prescribed by the manufacturer Provides new well test reports ad documentation relevant to economic evaluation Recognize malfunctions in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problems Utilize proper Lockout/Tag out operating and safety procedures Work with coworkers in the response to emergencies requiring coordination, equipment or plant shutdown, and/or evacuation Write repair work requests for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of normal operations using a CMMS (MAXIMO) Regular and reliable attendance are required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS): Education & License: Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent Maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company Two year associates degree in instrumentation or equivalent training/experience Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of Oil & Gas Industry experience, Midstream, Gas Plant Operations. Skills/Competencies: Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision Highly organized and detail-oriented Well-grounded, preferring to work in a collegial and team environment A self-starter Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense FREEDOM TO ACT: Operates independently within approved guidelines, and with minimum supervision; delivers pertinent information in a timely manner.
