Purpose

Performs advanced level of activities related to measurement functions.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, test, calibrate, repair, and maintain orifice, positive, Coriolis, Ultrasonic, mass flow, and dry flow meters, regulator settings, telemetering systems, electronic flow computers, odorant systems, and relief valves (as specified by position).

  • Perform measurement, sampling, compliance, and regulation operations and maintenance at facilities.

  • Calibrate and maintain test instrumentation and auxiliary equipment.

  • Drive and ensure maintenance of company vehicle.

  • Effective interaction with corporate measurement personnel and adherence to corporate measurement procedures

  • Prepare reports including but not limited to (as specified by position):

  • Job orders and completion reports

  • Meter and regulator installation and/or removal (Test-It)

  • Equipment and operational tests, repairs, and maintenance

  • DOT compliance reports

  • Sample reports

  • Generate batch tickets

  • Witness meter calibrations per contractual obligations.

  • Provide advanced trouble shooting skills and root cause evaluation in dealing with measurement systems.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience

Experience installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining measurement and regulation equipment.

  • Training and/or experience relative to:

  • Contract Negotiation

  • Meter testing and installation

  • Regulating flow and pressure

  • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

  • Servicing/repairing measuring station equipment

  • Interpretation of measurement data

  • Characteristics of product handled

  • Experience using, maintaining, and repairing tools and equipment used to regulate flow of gas.

  • Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of formulas to validate volume calculations/corrections.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting maps, plats, atlas pages, dials, gauges, sample reports, drawings, procedures, correction tables, and applicable operation and safety manuals.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Certification/Licensing

  • Applicable driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 5-10 times a day; up to 30 pounds 5-10 times a day; over 50 pounds 3-5 times a day.

  • Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:

  • Mud

  • Gravel

  • Sand

  • Rocks

  • Ice

  • Snow

  • Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.

  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders. Able to operate on elevated work surfaces.

  • Ability to work in confined areas.

  • React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment as required.

Communication Requirements

  • Communicate and/or exchange information or instruction.

Visual Requirements

  • Sufficient to perform job duties.

Targa is currently seeking a Measurement Technician for their facility located in Watford City, North Dakota. Job Responsibilities Have basic knowledge of field measurement. Have ability to calibrate, troubleshoot and, inspect flow computers.(Total flows, Omni) Responsible for calibrating, and inspecting USM. Ability to inspect and replace orifice plates. Have knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and calibrate Natural Gas Chromatographs and NGL Chromatographs.( Daniels and ABB) Be able to conduct 3rd party witness calibrations on high volume custody transfer meters, Chromatographs and witness liquid meter proving. Inspect and identify problems with meter tubes. Pull Natural Gas and NGL samples. Have basic knowledge of Coriolis and turbine meter for liquid measurement. Responsible for keeping track of monthly meter calibrations and annual certs, Responsible for keeping track of balance in plant and pipelines and be able to identify possible balance issues in system. Be able to identify gas quality issues within the system. Minimum Essential Qualifications Minimum of _2_ year(s) of related work experience High school diploma or equivalent Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Any additional minimum essentials needed for the job. Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors; able to work in a self-directed work team. Must work with a minimum of supervision and be able to manage their time when given multiple tasks. Must be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office software modules, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and be able to respond to call outs as need to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant conditions. Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to lift, push, and pull 75 pounds. Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment. Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing. Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex).
