Purpose

Performs advanced level of activities related to measurement functions.

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, test, calibrate, repair, and maintain orifice, positive, Coriolis, Ultrasonic, mass flow, and dry flow meters, regulator settings, telemetering systems, electronic flow computers, odorant systems, and relief valves (as specified by position).

  • Perform measurement, sampling, compliance, and regulation operations and maintenance at facilities.

  • Calibrate and maintain test instrumentation and auxiliary equipment.

  • Drive and ensure maintenance of company vehicle.

  • Effective interaction with corporate measurement personnel and adherence to corporate measurement procedures

  • Prepare reports including but not limited to (as specified by position):

  • Job orders and completion reports

  • Meter and regulator installation and/or removal (Test-It)

  • Equipment and operational tests, repairs, and maintenance

  • DOT compliance reports

  • Sample reports

  • Generate batch tickets

  • Witness meter calibrations per contractual obligations.

  • Provide advanced trouble shooting skills and root cause evaluation in dealing with measurement systems.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience

Experience installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining measurement and regulation equipment.

  • Training and/or experience relative to:

  • Contract Negotiation

  • Meter testing and installation

  • Regulating flow and pressure

  • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

  • Servicing/repairing measuring station equipment

  • Interpretation of measurement data

  • Characteristics of product handled

  • Experience using, maintaining, and repairing tools and equipment used to regulate flow of gas.

  • Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of formulas to validate volume calculations/corrections.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting maps, plats, atlas pages, dials, gauges, sample reports, drawings, procedures, correction tables, and applicable operation and safety manuals.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Certification/Licensing

  • Applicable driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 5-10 times a day; up to 30 pounds 5-10 times a day; over 50 pounds 3-5 times a day.

  • Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:

  • Mud

  • Gravel

  • Sand

  • Rocks

  • Ice

  • Snow

  • Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.

  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders. Able to operate on elevated work surfaces.

  • Ability to work in confined areas.

  • React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

  • Ability to operate tools and equipment as required.

  • Communicate and/or exchange information or instruction.

Provides detailed troubleshooting and programming modifications of control systems. Performs instrumentation and electrical work which involves repairing motors, starters, generators, and exciters. Tests and repairs switchboards and installs new cables, wiring and electrical fixtures. Inspects electrical equipment at frequent intervals. Calibrates, maintains and repairs analog and digital equipment data acquisition units, and pneumatic and hydraulic control and indicating devices. Analyzes performance of equipment, and participates in the automation of facilities. Inspects contract installed equipment. Performs duties based on standardized processes. Works under general guidance. Resolves routine questions and problems using basic principles of field. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation." Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Occasionally makes technical decisions concerning the maintenance and repair of critical electrical systems such as motors, cables, switch gear and Motor Control Centers that deviates from standard processes with approval from supervisor * Performs general maintenance, configuration and calibration of process and safety instrumentation utilized in the gathering, processing, transmission and storage of hydrocarbons. * Schedules and coordinates daily activities with peer operations personnel and uses supervisor to resolve scheduling conflicts. * Provides general troubleshooting and minor programming modifications for programmable logic control and HMI systems. * Performs required testing of various process instruments and safety systems such as ESD, fire detection and gas detection systems. Completes and published calibration and testing reports for documentation purposes. * Performs other duties and directed by supervisor. * Serves as a technical resource to operations personnel and lower technician positions. * Provide general AC/DC electrical system maintenance and troubleshooting for voltages up to 7200V with some supervision. * Routine verification and calibration of pressure and temperature transmitters. Secondary Duties May perform one or more multi-skilled operations, maintenance and installation duties in addition to the primary roles and responsibilities listed above. Responsibilities include but are not limited to measurement, electronics, dehydration, treating, corrosion, pipeline, compressor, and regulatory compliance functions with direct guidance. Education & Experience Associates Degree or 3 years directly related experience. Valid State Driver's License.
