North Rehab Center, a 45 bed rehab facility, has a fabulous opportunity for a business savvy RN/LPN MDS Coordinator. We're looking for a triple threat: An individual with the passion and technical knowledge of a nurse, the computer and multitasking skills of an office manager, and the drive and determination of an entrepreneur. The responsibilities of the MDS Coordinator includes but is not limited to overseeing and coordinating the development and completion of the resident assessment (MDS) in accordance with current Federal and state regulations, coordinating and leading the development of a comprehensive resident assessment and care plan for each resident as chairperson of the facility Interdisciplinary Plan of Care team, ensuring the face validity of all Minimum Data Sets before electronic submission and combine the timely electronic submission of all MDS, and conducting a monthly review of a random sample of the MDS to ensure accuracy and internal consistency with the medical records.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a RN or LPN in good standing licensed by the state of Florida.

  • Clinical experience, education or specialty skills specific to geriatrics is desired.

  • Must have knowledge in PPS assessment as well as OBRA compliance.

  • Demonstrates clinical assessment skills at the level necessary to meet the job requirements.

  • Ability to make independent decisions and follow through with limited supervision.

  • Knowledgeable and understanding of state and federal regulations and guidelines governing the practices of the facility.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary care team.

  • Able to relate positively, favorably and cooperatively with others, including, residents, family members, employee and personnel of outside agencies and organizations.

Establishing and maintaining pro-active relationships with media, customers, community, stakeholders, board members, elected officials, employees and public interest groups by organizing events for the media including press conferences, writing press releases and other media communications, responding to requests for information and coaching representatives in the correct way of communicating with the public. Create and execute media relations plan, write and prepare executive speeches and presentations, plan and execute media and community events, write articles for agency publications, participate in agency communications strategy development, and represent the PSTA Board, CEO, and the agency before the media. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are a must. Essential Functions Effectively inform and promote PSTA, its brand, its people, its mission and its product, ensuring that messaging aligns with agency goals. Develop and manage implementation of a proactive media and communications plan including strategy, goals, timeline and tactics. Respond to requests for information release or press conference from the media or designating a spokesperson or source of information. Collaborate with staff to collect detailed information on specific projects and translate into public facing talking points for employees, board members, stakeholders and other communication platforms such as social media, website, blog, etc. Prepare and edit organizational publications such as weekly e-mail newsletters and PSTA News website page. Prepare and organize media tours, press events, and briefings. Brief staff, executives, and board members for media interviews; and write executive speeches and talking points. Serve as PSTA's media liaison, Public Information Officer, and formal spokesperson, including identifying press opportunities and developing PR content. Develop and maintain relationships with regional, national and international news and trade media organizations as well as strategic messaging and story pitches based on previous articles written and beats covered. Research, write, and coordinate timely dissemination of news releases, features, and opinion editorials. Develop themes and storylines, and write articles to be published in different digital channels such as social networking sites, blogs, and the company's website. Monitor media coverage and prepare reports tracking success of media/communications plan as well as positive and negative media coverage for quarterly management review. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant field. Experience: Prefer media/publications experience in corporate communications, news reporting, or related field. License Requirement: Must have a valid Florida Drivers' license. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESDemonstrated mastery of written and verbal English language skills in a journalism/corporate communications setting. Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines. Proficiency with personal computer (PC) and software applications to include spreadsheet, word processing, and database. Professional interaction with executive staff, elected officials, the media, and members of the public. Comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews as well as oral presentations. A proactive and creative approach to obtaining positive media coverage.
