Perform as the lead worker for the assigned garage by performing maintenance activities and leading maintenance workers performing maintenance activities, including assuring that work is completed properly. Perform as the lead worker responsible for guiding crew members in safety protocols, instructing crew members on how to operate equipment safely, training crew members in proper maintenance operations, and guiding those participating in the Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) work element program.
As a lead worker, this employee will be responsible for assisting the Transportation Maintenance Coordinator with monitoring maintenance contracts. Also, responsible for inspecting and monitoring work done by contractors and county crews. Will participate in cross training in other areas of maintenance as time permits.
Required Education and Experience
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Three years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker E8 with the required work elements.
Additional Requirements and Information
Satisfactory completion of the Department of Transportation Maintenance Work Element Training and Certification program required for the specific level.
Some positions may also be assigned duties that require the application of pesticides that may require certification or registration as a pesticide applicator in compliance with the Pesticide Control Act of 1976.
Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
