This position functions as the Traffic Incident Management Specialist. This position will manage and coordinate the division's program for traffic incident management on the state trunkline system.
This includes identification, prioritization, and planning of initiatives, projects, preparations of standards and specifications, development of new and improved operations, equipment, and systems for system operation and management initiatives. This position will partner with other MDOT bureau's, regions, MPO's, and state, federal, and private sector organization to determine traffic incident management opportunities. The purpose is to provide a comprehensive traffic incident management program to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel on the state's transportation systems.
Coordinate efforts with the four transportation operations centers for consistent, effective and efficient traffic incident responses across the state. This position will also provide support to the congestion and mobility unit including the Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) initiatives. This includes operational analysis, traffic modeling, system performance measures and implementation of the freeway and non-freeway operational and reliability templates.
Required Education and Experience
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
Additional Requirements and Information
Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
