Position functions as the Innovation design squad engineer specialist responsible for the management of project related testing of improvements to the plan development process and automation efforts as the department moves toward the adoption of Civil Integrated Management (CIM). Projects may include all types of work performed by MDOT and vary from complex to simple road rehabilitation, road replacement, and new road construction. Assist the Design Services statewide specialists by testing and supporting new implementations on projects and coordinating with necessary internal and external teams and stakeholders. This will include performing as back-up for the statewide review of Reference Information Documents (RID) and other digital engineering data as necessary to help improve the processes and maintain industry credibility of this data.
This position will provide quality control, quality assurance, and consistency in carrying out unit design projects. It will also be responsible for working with the respective Region in responding to and resolving complex and unusual design related construction issues, preparing reports, estimates, and special provisions, as well as, attending meetings. This position will work with other specialists within the unit to develop the training material for statewide staff and provide feedback and guidance to others in the unit.
Required Education and Experience
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
Additional Requirements and Information
Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
