PSYCHIATRIST

San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH)

Part-time/Temporary

$200.00 hourly

$220.00 with Board Certification

$230.00 with Board Certification & Subspecialty

Psychiatrists perform professional psychiatric work involving the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of clients receiving County mental health services. Current vacancies are located at the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital, 3853 Rosecrans St., San Diego, CA 92110.

The San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH) is a publicly funded, free-standing psychiatric hospital. It is a locked facility and a component of the San Diego County Behavioral Health Services' continuum of care.

The mission of the Hospital is to provide psychiatric evaluation and crisis intervention-oriented acute treatment for adult residents of San Diego County. The goal of the Hospital is to help patients deal with a mental health crisis, become stabilized, and move ahead to a less restrictive level of care.

Required at time of application:

1.Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California; OR,

2.Graduation from a U.S. accredited medical or osteopathic school or certified foreign studies equivalency equivalent to a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)

Note: Possession of an ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Graduates) certificate may substitute for the certified foreign studies equivalency.

AND,

Required at time of appointment:

1.Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California (if not used to qualify at time of application); AND,

2.Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate; AND,

3.Valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI); AND,

4.Completion of a General Psychiatric residency in an ACGME approved residency program*

Note: *Applicants may apply within six (6) months of anticipated graduation form an approved residency program in psychiatry. An official letter of anticipated graduation from the Residency Director is required at time of application. Completion of residency is required at time of appointment.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

As part of the County of San Diego's pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

Temporary Expert Professional - M.D., D.O. positions are exempt from the classified service and work for the County of San Diego as physicians for a specific period of time in other than a regular capacity.
