NATURE OF WORK

Goal of job is to identify and ensure the immediate enrollment of all eligible McKinney-Vento students. Under general supervision, employee must act as a liaison between the school liaison and McKinney Vento families. Employee will maintain files, records, and state-mandated reports related to McKinney Vento students.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school, some college and/or similar experience preferred, and demonstrated ability to speak, understand, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with schools and social workers to identify and immediately enroll McKinney Vento students.

  • Advocate and ensure that McKinney Vento students are given the full and equal opportunity to succeed.

  • Maintains an accurate data base of McKinney Vento students.

  • Collaborates with community agencies and LEA programs to help obtain needed services for families.

  • Works with school liaisons to monitor McKinney Vento student academic progress throughout the school year and submit request for interventions if necessary.

  • Provides necessary professional development for stakeholders

  • Assures that McKinney Vento families know their educational rights and that educational rights of families are posted throughout the district.

  • Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.

  • Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Federal Programs

MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work.

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak in Spanish and English to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments and/or directions.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, etc., in English and Spanish.

Requires the ability to prepare routine and technical documents. Requires ability to write, using standard conventions, in English and Spanish.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions in English and Spanish. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English and Spanish.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; and to apply the principles of algebra, trigonometry and geometry.

Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using adaptive equipment.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to form numerous signs, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress. Must b e sensitive to cultural differences among individuals and groups of persons.

Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to communicate via telephone.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full-time for twelve months

Salary: Based on state and local salary schedules

Work involves coordinating and providing training and technical support to assist teachers in implementing computerized instructional management system. Work also involves providing technical assistance and support for implementation of the integrated technical preparation curriculum. Reports to the Director of Career and Technical Education. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Must be eligible for certification as an Instructional Management Coordinator (Licensure #830) in the State of North Carolina. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB * Coordinates the distribution, collection, scanning, scoring, online administration, and data reporting to NC DPI of all Career and Technical Education State Assessments to measure academic and technical attainment and student growth. * Compiles Career and Technical Education EOC tests results by school, course, teacher, and student demographics. * Coordinates and provides training and technical support to assist teachers in implementing a computerized instructional management system and student achievement tracking system. * Assists teachers in assessing and using academic/technical enabling skills assessment data to develop integrated lesson plans and curriculum strategies by course objectives as required by federal legislation for Career and Technical Education programs. * Provides technical assistance and training to assist teachers in establishing and using appropriate computers, test scoring scanners, installing the Information Management System software, text input scanners and software work stations needed to support the standard course of study. * Coordinates and supervises the development of new curriculum banks. * Reviews and plans computer needs for teachers to use the Instructional Management System. * Coordinates and supervises the development and data entry of instructional materials correlated with the standard course of study. * Provides technical assistance and training for teachers in appropriate use of text scanners and downloading of data to computer files to maximize use of existing and new computer work stations. * Works with community organizations and individuals on projects related to instructional achievement and curriculum. * Collects assessment data from schools, processes data, and distributes to instructional specialists. * Assists teachers in collecting and using data related to curriculum content, instruction and student learning. * Develops process manuals to assist teachers to utilize software/hardware stations to electronically produce criterion-referenced assessments, lesson plans by objective, other instructional materials, and add instructional materials to the curriculum banks. * Provides technical assistance to teachers in using assessment data to adjust instruction to increase student achievement. * Develops and maintains a database for Career and Technical Education industry council presentations and to track curriculum materials distribution. * Assists the Director of Career and Technical Education in the collection of data for the development of the Career and Technical Education local plan an application for State and Federal funds. * Facilitates or assists with the application and development process of a Local Course Option (LCO). * Maintains a thorough understanding and knowledge of Career Pathways, Status of Curriculum, and CTE Essential Standards documents and processes. * Understands the process of WorkKeys and its effect on accountability. * Coordinates the administration of Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) for CTE courses. * Maintains knowledge of general legislation and policies (state and federal) related to CTE, including Occupational Course of Study (OCS), Limited English Proficiency (LEP), Individualized Education Plans (IEP), Medical Waivers, EVAAS, Testing Accommodations, Testing Ethics and Assessment security. * Understand and facilitate the process of current state and local articulation through collaboration with community colleges and other postsecondary programs. * Have a thorough understanding of the development of any honors course portfolio in order to facilitate the process. * Plan professional development based on information gained from attendance at regional, state and national conferences/meetings, including integration of academic and CTE curricula. * Provide test training for all test administrators and proctors prior to the LEA test schedule. * Performs other duties as required MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle.
