Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to teach biochemistry and/or chemistry (both lecture and lab-based courses) at the undergraduate and graduate level, perform research and scholarship, and mentor undergraduate students. Some courses may be taught in the evenings. Applicants with experience in teaching physical chemistry are encouraged to apply. Purdue University Northwest (PNW) Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is an academically comprehensive, student-centered university located in northwest Indiana, just southeast of Chicago. Department of Chemistry and Physics The Department of Chemistry and Physics is an integral part of the College of Engineering and Sciences, and includes 9 full-time chemistry faculty, 8 full-time physics faculty, and 4 staff members. We offer courses leading to a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (ACS) with a concentration in material science, and minors in chemistry, physics, and astrophysics. The unit also offers numerous service courses that support other degree programs around the university. The chemistry curriculum is designed to address broad career goals including graduate education. All majors are required to participate in faculty-mentored research. Recently, the department has seen significant internal and external interests in expanding offerings in both undergraduate and graduate-level biochemistry, which are likely to include program development. With the opening of a new 68,000 sq. ft. Bioscience Innovations Building in fall 2020 and the potential emergence of bio-oriented engineering programs within the School of Engineering, the department also sees significant opportunity for expansion of both teaching and research collaborations in this area.
