Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking a motivated and talented Lead Systems Engineer (MBSE) - Digital Engineering to join our Air Dominance team in the St. Louis, Missouri region. The Air Dominance team develops some of the most dynamic and technically engaging defense platforms and mission capabilities in the industry. The region is dynamic and growing as we support multiple new product development programs. We are focused on developing top talent in support of critical missions for national defense and delivering unique capability to the warfighter.

Supported programs include fighters such as the F/A-18 Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, F-15 Eagle, F-22 Raptor, and T-7A Red Hawk, autonomous aircraft such as the MQ-25 Stingray and MQ-28 Ghost Bat, and numerous proprietary programs developing the next generation systems.

As a Lead Systems Engineer (MBSE) on a BDS program, you will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions related to a digital ecosystem. You will evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all aspects of Systems Engineering throughout the full program lifecycle (concept definition, design, test, and production), using traditional and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods.

  • Assist with definition of high level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation.

  • Assists with risk assessments and generate mitigation plans to comply with system/customer requirements.

  • Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as DOORS, Cameo, and mathematical modeling and simulation to develop system definitions/architectures and perform trade studies.

  • Partner with subject matter experts and technology experts to execute the systems engineering statement of work.

Depending on the program assigned, this position may require 100% work on-site (at one of the listed locations) or may allow some telecommuting. (St. Louis region sites)

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Experience with model based system engineering (MBSE)

  • 4 years of Systems Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in applying engineering processes and principles

  • Experience modeling or simulating systems

  • Experience/domain knowledge of system architecture, requirements, interface definition, verification, and validation

  • Experience with product/systems development and integration

  • Experience with implementation and maintenance of systems engineering tools, schedules and metrics (i.e. DOORs, CAMEO, Earned value management).

  • Technical system domain knowledge (e.g. air vehicle)

  • Experience in technical engineering leadership

  • Current Department of Defense Security Clearance

  • Recognition of MBSE excellence

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $119,850 - $162,150
