About SUNY Maritime College:
SUNY Maritime College located on a 55-acre scenic waterfront property on the outskirts of New York City on the Throggs Neck peninsula where the East River meets Long Island Sound. The Math Supplemental Instruction Program at SUNY Maritime College provides guided instruction on Mathematical concepts covered in our entry level Mathematics courses (MATH 080 and MATH 090). The program is seeking a motivated Math Supplemental Instructor to provide non-credit instruction for our students in these specific courses.
Facilitate 3-4, 120-minute conceptual late-afternoon/evening review sessions per week for Intermediate and College Algebra students
Model and encourage collaborative study strategies
Prepare session activities
Create and manage resources
Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
Meet regularly with supervisor and faculty of targeted courses
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs
Degree in Mathematics
Classification/Salary Range: The anticipated hourly rate for the position is $35 - $50 per hour. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will commence immediately and conclude when position is filled.
Special Notes: FLSA non-exempt position, that is, eligible for overtime monies.
